15 Hilarious Translation Fails From Across The World

Translation can be tricky, as we know at Jublo, and sometimes people get it hilariously wrong. From incorrectly spelt words (which then mean something completely different) to wonky sentences, incorrect translations can make for some pretty great laughs.

So to share the laughs, we’ve compiled this list of the best funny translation mistakes. As translation specialists, we know how important it is to translate your offerings correctly. However, if you choose to use a search engine translation or rely on your language knowledge, you may cause hilarity. Here are our favourite cases of incorrect translation.

Inspiring words

We’ve all seen rather awful translations of English into Chinese, Sanskrit, Russian, etc. But what happens when someone without a firm grasp of the English language wants to ink something meaningful onto their skin?

What we love about this one is that it just keeps going and giving out the laughs. This is the cock that we all want in our lives.

Belt label

We don’t know about you, but there seems to be something suspicious about this belt. Perhaps it's that it has a wash label etched into the material. We certainly think that no one intends to turn this belt inside out to machine wash, and we’ll all promise not to bleach or tumble dry it. While everything is spelt correctly here, something was clearly lost in translation when they made this belt.

Acid bacteria fudge

This lactic acid bacteria flavour fudge is vaguely terrifying. We know it’s not the most important element here, but fudge?? No way is that spooky green sweet a fudgy confectionary.

Quiet smoking

I’m embarrassed to say it actually took us a minute to understand that they meant “no smoking allowed”. This funny translation makes us feel like tiptoeing to the smoking section.

Baseball?

This well-meaning backpack really seemed to try its best, but it did not succeed. From the BAECBLAL (say it out loud to yourself for an extra laugh) to the non-commital “sport” cap illustration, this bad translation is a cry for help.

Your, you’re, or your’re?

We know that the your vs you’re struggle is very real, and it seems it got too much for these people. They decided to cover all their bases and keep everyone happy. They may have failed.
